Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?

I dunno…you tell me.

I don’t remember that topic getting broached Mr. Dick’s book while I was reading it (ahem, I mean listening to it on cd) during one of my miserable shifts at the office I was working at downtown.

What I do remember is a tiny replicant spider…and kipple.

Kipple is rather terrifying – the useless stuff that just accumulates and overwhelms a space:

JR: Kipple is useless objects, like junk mail or match folders after you use the last match or gum wrappers of yesterday’s homeopape. When nobody’s around, kipple reproduces itself. For instance, if you go to bed leaving any kipple around your apartment, when you wake up the next morning there’s twice as much of it. It always gets more and more.

I fight an almost daily battle with kipple while creating or transforming garbage into something closer to wonder.

On that note, the film manifestion of this book is wonderful via Blade Runner. Mostly due to Rutger Hauer portrayal of Roy Batty.

It is one of the few instances where I find the movie to be better than the book.

“I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe…”
